What is Physical Therapy?

Physical Therapy by itself has been around in one form or fashion since the 1920’s. However, in today’s medical practice, preventative medicine and rehabilitation has taken a front seat in a more health conscience world. If the community in general is educated and more active, then the rates of injury and some diseases will decrease. Physicians are seeing the benefits of physical therapy and referring more patients, patients are seeking more natural and less invasive treatments, and insurance companies prefer the cost savings over traditional treatments.
Physical Therapy’s primary goal is to return patients to their prior level of function after an injury or physical insult. However, experts in the field have extensive training on preventing injuries, improving athletic performance, and improving the quality of life.
